Demihumans are half-human half-animals with animalistic tendencies that vary by season and are always based on their animal mix. All animals in this universe are half human, none are fully animal.
They can freely shift between their demihuman form and a full animal form, but are incapable of speaking while fully shifted. Their height depends on their species and breed: a mouse demihuman is smaller than a dog demihuman, though no demihuman is shorter than 1.50 m.
Weddings and relationships between humans and demihumans are permitted, but are closely monitored whenever there are suspicions of abuse or a lack of consent.

Male demihumans experience ruts for several days each month. The cycle depends mostly on the demihuman's breed.
Effect: Their scent changes during the rut.
Prevention: Ruts can be suppressed with blockers.
Heat and rut blockers are the medication that can make a rut/heat not happen. It's like birth control for both male and females, but it mostly serves to not let them go into heat or rut.
